8-28-2020 HEALTH ALERT: Dallas Central Appraisal District Operations For those property owners who timely filed a 2020 protest and have not yet been scheduled and notified for an Appraisal Review Board (ARB) hearing, please know that there is a scheduling delay due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Be assured that you will be scheduled for an ARB hearing. Our agency anticipates the 2020 Appraisal Review Board process will extend into October and possibly November. Once your account is scheduled for an ARB Hearing, an ARB Hearing Notice will be mailed to you at least 14 days in advance of your scheduled ARB Hearing date and time. If an appraiser has not yet sent you an e-mail, left you a voicemail or spoken with you directly by phone and you still have a 2020 protest pending and/or an ARB Hearing scheduled then you should contact the respective Division to speak with an appraiser concerning your protest. Dallas Central Appraisal District (DCAD) is responsible for appraising property for the purpose of ad valorem property tax assessment on behalf of the 61 local governing bodies in Dallas County . The appraisal district is a political subdivision of the State of Texas. Our duties include establishing and maintaining accurate property values for all real and business personal property. The Texas Property Tax Code is the primary source of law and guidance for the Texas property tax system.
